When you start the level, walk about 45° to your right to find some armour.
The boss fight takes place in a huge, but mostly empty, area. I recommend using the stake gun, but the shotgun is also effective as his massive size makes the shotgun's bullet spread irrelevant. Aim for the body- if you're attacking his feet, you're too close. This gigantic boss isn't as hard as he looks, but he does have one very annoying ability in the second phase of the fight. Recommended Gold Tarot Cards: Haste (or Double/Triple Haste) + Fury/Rage You unlock this card by collecting 500 gold in Cathedral (the second level). If you play on Daydream or Insomnia, you are also restored to 150 health when you reach a checkpoint. It's passive, doesn't cost much to equip, and it increases both your starting and maximum health by 50%.
Vitality is probably the most useful tarot card in the entire game (aside from the game-breaking mercy and forgiveness cards, of course). In Painkiller, jumping repeatedly as you run lets you build up speed, moving much faster than you would just by walking. You can use this to determine how effective your attacks are and whether or not the boss is currently invulnerable. You know that circle with the pentagram on it at the middle of the top of your screen? The one that shows an arrow on it pointing you to the nearest enemy or checkpoint? When fighting a boss or miniboss, there will be a red circle around it indicating the boss's health. The gold tarot card suggestions assume that you're not not using these. Side Note: The mercy and forgiveness cards (the ones that let you use your gold tarot cards multiple times) completely trivialize everything. For each boss, I will recommend tarot cards, but I won't assume that you will use them. All bosses in the game can be made much easier- or even be completely trivialized- by using gold tarot cards.
I hope text is sufficient for now *īefore I get into the individual bosses, a couple general tips:
